Okavango Land & Water Fly-In

Four nights across two contrasting Delta camps, reached through Maun. Combine Moremi game drives with the channels and islands around an Okavango Delta camp.

Your journey

The Okavango is not one uniform safari environment. This five-day outline pairs two nights at a Moremi safari camp with two at an Okavango Delta camp to give you a land-and-water contrast without a long overland expedition. The journey starts and ends in Maun, with the lodge group coordinating light-aircraft connections and camp transfers. Moremi brings guided game drives, while an Okavango Delta camp introduces channels, islands and possible boat or mokoro outings. Activities depend on conditions and guest eligibility; neither a particular animal nor a specific water activity can be guaranteed. This is a natural Botswana extension to a Namibia holiday, but the regional flight between the countries is separate and must fit actual airline schedules. The final proposal confirms the operating carrier, baggage limits, camp room configuration, meal basis and conservation charges. A Maun transit night can be added when connections need a buffer. Private guiding and a scenic helicopter flight are optional upgrades rather than hidden assumptions.

01Day 1Maun to Moremi: the safari begins by airMeet the supplier’s team at Maun for a light-aircraft connection into the Moremi region and your first two-night camp stay. a Moremi safari camp is the proposed base, with time to settle in before a guided activity if the flight timing allows. This itinerary begins in Maun rather than Namibia; any regional flight to Botswana is a separate line in your quote. Leave space around the arrival connection and travel with compliant soft luggage.Illustrative scene for day 1: Maun to Moremi: the safari begins by air⌄

Meet the Maun flight team

Check in with the carrier arranged through a safari operator and complete the required weight and luggage formalities. Inter-camp flights may involve other airstrip stops rather than a direct private sector. The operating airline, flight times and baggage allowance must be named in the final quote. Do not bring rigid luggage or excess camera equipment without written approval from the aviation provider.

On arrival

a Moremi safari camp welcome

Meet the camp guide at the approved airstrip and transfer to a Moremi safari camp. The first briefing covers the camp layout, wildlife movement, escort rules and the day’s activity schedule. Settle into your booked tent and enjoy the change from airport travel to the Moremi environment. Meals, drinks, laundry and park charges are confirmed from the current supplier package, rather than assumed from a general safari description.

Late afternoon

First guided safari if timing allows

If arrival timing permits, join an introductory game drive with the camp guide. An air transfer delayed into the afternoon may mean a shorter outing, and no activity should be promised before the carrier confirms the schedule. Listen to the guide’s instructions and enjoy the landscape as well as the wildlife. Dinner and a quiet first night help prepare for a full safari day tomorrow.

02Day 2Moremi: a full safari daySpend a full day on the camp’s guided safari programme, with morning and afternoon activities balanced by time to rest during the heat. a Moremi safari camp provides a land-focused contrast to the water setting you will visit next. Sightings follow the animals’ movements and the guide’s judgement, not a checklist. Depending on current camp operations and conditions, a boat activity may be possible, but no specific water excursion is guaranteed in this base day.Illustrative scene for day 2: Moremi: a full safari day⌄

Early morning

Moremi game drive

Head out with the camp guide in the cool part of the day, looking for wildlife across the accessible habitats around camp. The guide chooses the route based on conditions and recent movement. Staying seated, speaking quietly and respecting the vehicle rules supports safe viewing. This is a shared camp activity unless a private vehicle has been explicitly reserved and paid for in your quotation.

Midday

Camp rest and interpretation

Return for the camp’s meal and rest period. This pause is useful for downloading photographs, watching birds around the permitted camp areas or simply relaxing after the early start. Wildlife can move through unfenced camps, so do not treat the grounds as a place for independent exploration. Follow the escort procedure and ask the team before walking anywhere outside the established guest areas.

Afternoon

A second safari session

Join the afternoon activity selected by the camp team. This may be another drive or an alternative in the current programme when conditions support it. A different time of day gives the landscape a new character and can reveal behaviour missed in the morning. Return for dinner and confirm tomorrow’s air transfer. Desired species, predator encounters and dramatic photography cannot be guaranteed.

03Day 3Moremi to the permanent DeltaTransfer by supplier-coordinated light aircraft to an Okavango Delta camp for two nights in a different part of the Delta. The move is part of the experience but should not be advertised as a guaranteed scenic route or an exact departure time. Settle into a water-oriented camp, with a possible introductory boat or mokoro outing if conditions and arrival time allow. The camp team chooses activities around safety, current access and guest eligibility.Illustrative scene for day 3: Moremi to the permanent Delta⌄

Morning

A final Moremi morning and departure

Enjoy breakfast and any short activity the flight schedule genuinely allows. The camp and flight coordinator set the departure time; there is no guaranteed morning drive before transfer. Pack within the agreed soft-bag allowance and keep essential items accessible. A coordinated booking through Desert & Delta helps align the two camps, but each flight still depends on the operator’s daily routing and weather.

Fly between Delta habitats

Travel to the approved an Okavango Delta camp airstrip and meet the camp transfer. You may stop at another airstrip along the way, depending on the operating plan. The flight’s perspective on waterways is a welcome contrast to ground-level safari, but visibility varies. The final itinerary must name the operating carrier and make clear whether the sector is a shared connection or an exclusive charter.

Afternoon

Welcome to an Okavango Delta camp

Settle into an Okavango Delta camp and discuss the water-based programme with your guide. Boat and mokoro activities are among the camp’s offerings, but the exact combination follows conditions and age or mobility requirements. Take time to understand the boarding arrangements and life-jacket guidance before an outing. This two-night stay does not include the sleep-out platform, whose published condition requires a longer camp stay.

04Day 4Okavango Delta: channels, islands and quiet waterExplore the Delta through the activity mix selected by the camp guides: motorboat, mokoro and a guided island walk may all be possibilities when conditions and guest eligibility allow. The attraction is the slower water-level view of the ecosystem, a complement to your Moremi game drives. Birdlife and the pattern of the channels are part of the experience. A helicopter flight is a separately quoted option, not a standard inclusion.Illustrative scene for day 4: Okavango Delta: channels, islands and quiet water⌄

Morning

A water-level view of the Delta

Join the camp’s chosen water activity and listen carefully to boarding and safety instructions. A mokoro can offer a quiet close view of shallow channels, while a motorboat reaches different waterways. The camp decides which options are suitable that day. Carry only practical camera gear, use the recommended water protection and be prepared to change the activity if water, weather or safety conditions require it.

Midday

Lunch and an optional guided island walk

Return for lunch and rest, or join a guided island walk if the camp programme, temperature and guest eligibility support it. Walking is not an independent activity and can have different age and fitness limits from boating. The guide’s decision is final in the field. Those who prefer a gentler schedule can stay in the permitted camp areas and enjoy the birdlife and setting.

Afternoon

Choose the final Delta activity

Take another camp activity suited to the conditions or enjoy a slower final afternoon. A scenic helicopter flight can be requested in advance, with its own cost, operator, weight limits and weather terms. It is not included in this base plan. End the day with dinner and confirm tomorrow’s Maun connection, including a realistic margin before any separately booked regional or international flight.

05Day 5The Delta to MaunEnjoy breakfast and the final camp atmosphere before the supplier-coordinated flight back to Maun. The departure time depends on the carrier’s routing and onward connections, so a final morning activity is possible only if the schedule allows. Your trip ends in Maun with no overnight tonight. Regional flights beyond Maun are separate unless itemized, and a transit night should be added when a safe connection cannot be confirmed.Illustrative scene for day 5: The Delta to Maun⌄

MealsProposed camp breakfast; subsequent meals excluded.
Morning

Breakfast and departure preparation

Pack your soft bag within the agreed allowance and reconfirm the flight timing with the camp team. A short final outing is a bonus only when the transfer schedule permits; it should not be the reason to book this day. Keep passports and onward travel details accessible. The camp and aviation coordinator should have your actual onward flight information before travel begins.

Flight back to Maun

Transfer to the airstrip and fly back to Maun on the confirmed carrier. Intermediate stops and timing changes may occur. The air transfer is an operational connection, and the final quotation must specify its seat basis and baggage conditions. Avoid nonrefundable onward arrangements that rely on the fastest possible journey. Weather and aircraft logistics require a buffer appropriate to the international or regional flight being connected.

Maun finish and onward link

Meet any prebooked assistance or hotel transfer at Maun and continue with the next part of your journey. A Namibia flight, Victoria Falls link or Botswana extension can be added after checking actual schedules. This five-day outline does not include a night in Maun, but one can be useful. The final booking documents should show who to contact if the camp flight and onward service no longer align.
