12 Day Namibia Camping Circuit

Dunes, granite peaks, the Atlantic and Etosha in one adaptable camping journey. Travel with a properly equipped 4x4 and spend where the experience matters most.

Your journey

This is a practical first Namibia adventure for travellers who enjoy a campfire, an open road and the freedom to decide how much to spend on extras. Begin with an arrival and equipment-check night in Windhoek before travelling to Sesriem for two nights, so the dune visit does not become a rushed stop between long drives. Two coastal nights give time to resupply and choose one guided experience around Swakopmund or Walvis Bay. The route then changes character through Spitzkoppe's granite landscape and the Twyfelfontein region before two nights inside Etosha. A Waterberg stop and a final Windhoek night break up the return and protect the flight connection. The named campsites are proposed first choices, not reserved allocations. You can keep the trip predominantly self-catered, replace selected camps with rooms, or add a private guide and extra safari nights. Public-road driving, specialist excursions and final access into the Sossusvlei sand sector are planned separately so the itinerary remains clear about what is included and who operates each activity.

Free time without a camp move

Keep the afternoon for the museum, cafés, laundry, grocery shopping or a second optional activity that genuinely fits the first. Swakopmund provides a useful resupply stop before Damaraland and Etosha. Coastal meals are flexible and paid locally unless prebooked, making this a practical value-focused pause rather than a compulsory excursion day.

A reservation secures availability according to current policy, not a guaranteed numbered scenic pitch.

Morning

Uis and the Brandberg corridor

Travel north through Uis with fuel and basic food stops before continuing towards Twyfelfontein. The Brandberg is a landscape stop from the road rather than a promised full mountain hike. Settle at a Twyfelfontein-area campsite and enjoy the boulder landscape around your own pitch. This booking has its own campsite basis: access to Mowani Mountain Camp's lodge facilities is not included. Nature drives may be requested, but availability and advance contracting must be confirmed instead of promising an on-arrival excursion.

Waterholes and open-plains wildlife

Leave camp within the permitted hours for a planned circuit of public Etosha roads and waterholes. Sit quietly for animal behaviour rather than covering the greatest possible distance. Return to a designated rest camp for shade and lunch, then choose a shorter afternoon loop that leaves ample time before closing. Vary the route with your guide or current sightings information.
